Every year a group from Boys Ranch heads to Elko, Nevada for the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This is an event where ranchers and cowboys come together to celebrate a community of arts and storytelling derived from a shared experience of living and working on the Western rangeland.
This year three Boys Ranch students participated as cowboy poets. Kadan M., Ryleigh M and Kyleigh M. each performed poetry readings at the event that were well received by the audience. These students are proud ambassadors for the Boys Ranch community.
Youth who participate in cowboy poetry events, like the Elko gathering, gain valuable leadership and public speaking skills.
